28/08/06 Photographs of the Ladies Road run, Annual Road Run and the 2006 Rally are now available in the Photo Gallery. The Rally Galleries are still under construction.
28/08/06 To date the Ladies Run Run sponsorship monies has raised almost £16,000 for Cancer Research so we would like to express a big thank you to all those people who collected and those who took part on the night.
03/07/06 The 2002 & 2003 photo galleries will not be available for the time being.
17/06/06 The Ulstersteam email address has been fixed. Following the death of our previous secretary we were not able to change the mail re-direct for the site so but all enquiries to the site may now be made through info@ulstersteam.co.uk
17/06/06 We have some of our older photographs stored on a second server which has been kindly loaned to us by NIIS. Unfortunately we have been experiencing some problems with this machine so the 2002 & 2003 photographs may be available intermitantly over the next few weeks while a new hard is procured and fitted.
17/06/06 The closing date for entry forms for the 2006 Rally has passed and the details have been sent to the printer so please do not send in any more forms. However you will still be more than welcome to bring along an exhibit on the day and receive your lunch and plaque although you won't have your name in the programme.
17/06/06 There has been good interest shown in the Ladies tractor run and we hope that there will be over 80 ladies taking part next week.

08/04/06 A big thankyou to Raymond Walls and Tom Herron for allowing us to visit their extensive vintage collections today. We had a full bus and everyone enjoyed themselves.
08/04/06 Our next club meeting will be held on 26th April and we will be having a talk on first aid.
08/04/06 The Event list (Revision 7 - 4 April) has been revised. The Larne Borough Council event on the 4th June has been removed and the New Years Rally in Antrim has been added.
28/03/06 Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control the date of the Tom Herron/Raymond Walls visit has been brought forward to 8th April.
08/03/06 The Event List (Revision 6 - 8 March) has been revised to include The County & Big Power working day.

23/02/06 This Saturday 25th February is Mullaghead Ploughing match. Garvagh Ploughing match will follow on the 4th March and Ballyeaston on 11th March.
23/02/06 On 6th May the Club is organising a trip to visit the collections of both Tom Herron and Raymond Walls for members. Names to Rodney Getty with a £10 deposit. Total cost of outing including food will be £20.
23/03/06 At our next meeting we will be getting a talk and demonstration of some first aid techniques.

29/10/05 Our annual road run will be held on Saturday 24th June 2006 with all mony raised being given to Motor Neurone disease. This year we are going to run a short ladies tractor run for charity on the Friday night but more details will follow later.
29/10/05 It is hoped that the Ford & Fordson Association will be in attendance at our November Club meeting.
29/10/05 Our AGM was held on 26th October and following the retirement of two of our members we are pleased to welcome Alan McAteer and Robert Harris as new committee members.
20/07/05 Due to increased server capacity we are now able to display all the photographs from 2002 onwards. It is also hoped that we will now be able make video clips available in the future.
19/07/05 The July Club meeting will be held at the Damhead Model Railway near Coleraine.
19/07/05 Good weather and a large turnout of exhibits ensured that our 38th Annual Rally was a great success. Photos of the event will be posted on the site shortly.
19/07/05 Our 3rd Annual Vintage and Classic Tractor Road Run was a great success with around 80 tractors taking part and helping us to raise £900 for the Maternity Unit.
19/07/05 Things were a little busy with the Tractor Run and Annual Rally falling in consecutive months so unfortunately the website has been neglected recently.
04/06/05 Please make sure you have returned your entry forms for our vintage & classic tractor run on Saturday 25th June.
23/04/05 Our Annual ploughing match has had to be cancelled as a result of the continuing bad weather so there will not be a prize giving at our April Club meeting. We will however be having a talk on Goodyear tyres which should be very interesting.
23/04/05 At our March Club meeting Steven Cotton gave a very intersting presentation on his meticulous restoration of a Ferguson trailer. You can see pictures and an account of the restoration in the current issue of Tractor & Machinery magazine.

19/03/05 Event List Updated. 2 new events have been added to the list: 7th May Ballyeaston Tractor Road Run & 11th June Ballyaston Club Vintage Rally at Sixmile water Ballyclare.
04/03/05 Event List Updated. A new event has been added to the list on 30th July for a Digger Day at Granville Mart, Dungannon.
26/02/05 The 2005 event list is now available. A big thankyou to all the local event organisers who submitted their details. From the £10 charge levied on entries £620 has been raised for the Antrim Area Hospital Maternity Unit. The TECU make no profit from this event list which is available free to everyone.
01/02/05 Seaforde Working Vintage Club are holding an autojumble on 18th&19th February 2005 in Seaforde Young Farmers Club Hall in aid of the Tsunami earthquake appeal. Please make an effort to support this needy cause.
01/02/05 Saturday 29th January was a Club outing to visit the vintage collections of John Hanlon and Gerry King. A great day was enjoyed by all and the hospitality was second to none. Pictures now available in photo gallery. Full report to follow.
25/01/05 It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Fergus Dunlop following a short period of illness. We would like to express our sincere sympathy to Mary and the children.

29/10/04 At our recent Annual General Meeting our Chairman Jim White stood down and was replaced by Rodney Getty. We would like to thank Jim for all his hard work during his time in the chair and wish Rodney every success in the year ahead.
03/10/04 At our last Club meeting on Wednesday 29th Sept we had a very enjoyable table quiz. Congratulations to the 'Crankies' team who won closely follwed by the 'Nuffield Duffers' and the 'Ploughmen'.
Wednesday 27th October will be our Annual General Meeting at the usual venue.
21/06/04 Don't forget our 37th Annual Vintage Rally which will take place in Ballymen Showgrounds on 16th & 17th July 2004.
21/06/04 Saturday 29th May was our 2nd TECU Tractor Road Run. A fine day saw a good turnout of 80 tractors embark on the run. (Click Here) to read Helen Mayne's account of the day. Photo's to follow shortly.
14/05/04 Check out our photo galleries for images of the National Road Run which was held in Northern Ireland this year.
17/04/04 Our Annual Ploughing match was held on 3rd April 2004. There was a good turn out of 52 competitors despite the poor weather conditions which made the field very muddy. Pictures of the event are now in the photo galleries and results to follow shortly.

17/04/04 The 2004 event list has been amended again. We have changed the date of our Road Run to the 29th May so that it does not clash with the Vintage Tractor and Machinery auction being held on the 5th June in aid of the Neo Natal Unit at the RVH.
09/03/04 2004 Event List has been amended. Co Armagh Vintage Vehicle Club do not have a ploughing match on the 4th September.

16/02/04 28th January was our final annual club meeting in the Dunsilly Arms. Saville tractors organised a presentation which was given by Philip Ponton and Alec Dingle on the very interesting history of Case International tractors. The topics covered included both International and David Brown early tractors and their subsequent development which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
16/01/04 The Dunsilly Arms will close on the 31st January 2004 and Club meetings will thereafter be held at the Chimney Corner Football Club, Randalstown Road, Antrim.
20/12/03 The National Tractor Road Run 2004 will be held in Northern Ireland commencing from Larne Harbour at 10.00am on Easter Saturday. Entry forms and further details of the event can be printed from this site (click here)
20/12/03 Our John Deere themed evening was held on 26th November 2003 in the Des Allen suite at Ballymena Showgrounds. Mr Jimmy Hughes and Mr Owen Kemp gave a detailed and informative presentation on John Deere products. The evening concluded with an auction of two model John Deere tractors which were kindly donated by Mr Hughes and Gilpen Farm Machinery. All proceeds from the evening will be given to the Paddy McAvoy memorial fund.

18/11/03 Rodney Getty would like to express his thanks to all those who helped to raise £648.00 for the local church building fund at his recent threshing day. A video entitled 'Rodney's Field of Corn' is now available priced at £10 with all proceeds going to the building fund.
18/11/03 At the AGM it was agreed that the membership fee would be increased to £10, the first increase for 10 years.
1/11/03 Our Annual General Meeting took place on 29th October at Dunsilly Arms, Antrim. Due to work committments our current Club Secretary Fergus Dunlop will be standing down after many years of dedicated service. Mervyn Getty was elected as new member to the committe this year to fill the vacancy. The reallocation of secretarial duties will take place at the next Committee meeting on 12th November and new contact details will be posted on this site. Fergus Dunlop will still be dealing with compiling and production of the 2004 Event list.
25/10/03 Saturday 11th October saw a good turn out at Rodney Getty's threshing day (photos) and despite poor weather in the morning while setting up, the weather improved in the afternoon and a good time was had by all. The event was organised to raise money for the local church building fund and a video has been made of the harvesting, ploughing and threshing.
07/10/03 John Deere's Area Sales Manager for Ireland, Mr Jimmy Hughes will be giving a talk on John Deere tractors in the Des Allen Suite, Ballymena Showgrounds on 26th November at 8.00pm.
07/10/03 Wednesday 29th October will be our annual general meeting at 8.00pm in the Dunsilly Arms, Antrim.
13/09/03 Due to file space restrictions and the increased number of photographs taken at this years rally we have had to remove last years photographs from the photo gallery. It is hoped that these photographs may be reinstated at a later date if more space becomes avaialble.
08/08/03 During the period 9th -16th August all email correspondence for this site should be directed through the Secretary.
23/07/03 Our 36th Annual Rally took place on Friday 18th & Saturday 19th July. The weather held up and with a good turn out of exhibits we had a great time. Helen Mayne has captured the spirit of the rally in her rally report and the photo galleries are starting to fill up with the photos. Unfortunately with limited web space we cannot show all 500 photos but we will do our best to squeeze as many in as we can.
11/07/03 Helen Patterson our Publicity Officer has written some excellent new articles which give further details of the attractions at our forthcoming rally.
10/07/03 The closing date for entries for our forthcoming rally has passed and the program has been compiled.
10/07/03 Intensive our Web Host went into liquidation and left us without a web site. We shifted our domain name to Business Serve who temporarily displayed the old site while we got the paperwork sorted. Unfortunately when the time came to switch over to the new site there were further delays but the good news is we are back.

During our absence the first club tractor run took place and judging by the feedback it won't be the last. 127 tractors out on fine sunny day and everyone managed to complete the route. 28/03/03 Wednesday 26 March was Quiz Night an annual event thoroughly enjoyed by our members. The Quiz Master David Montgomery battled the discomforts of a back injury to host the night and challenge our general knowledge. After a closely fought competition the Dreadnots were declared the winners.
28/03/03 A fine spring morning saw around 30 ploughmen and 7 teams of Horses competing at our annual ploughing match. Photographs of the event and results can be viewed in the photo gallery.
18/03/03 Due to an improvement in ground conditions Saturday 22 March 2003 will be our annual Ploughing Match. The field this year will be situated on the Staffordstown Road, Toome.
14/03/03 Wednesday 26 March 2003 will be the next club meeting when we will be having a Quiz Night.
19/02/03 Wednesday 26 February 2003 will be the next club meeting at the Dunsilly Arms in Antrim when Mr Charles Friel will be the guest speaker.

He will be showing various cine films of road steam in Ireland (but mostly Northern Ireland) in the late sixties and early seventies. There will be films of:

  • Steam threshing at Ballywindland in late '67 and at Wilmer Bryce's in '68,


  • The (first?) Club rally in Antrim Castle Grounds and then later at Shane's castle,

  • A Scottish engine towing a steam lorry and making its way by road and in steam to Randalstown
  • Stradbally steam of 1969,

  • Moving Bob Edwards' Aveling and Porter by road and in steam from Glengormley to Helen's Bay,
  • Johnny Glendinning's big Fowler in steam after he sold it to Wilmer Bryce.
03/02/03 Wednesday 29 January 2003 saw the visit of Eric McCleary formerly a Curator of the Ulster Folk and Transport museum. A vintage car and motorcyle enthusiast himself, it was very enjoyable as he recounted tales of his time with the museum and gave us an interesting insight into the history of many of the exhibits on display.
